TWG ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING FOR LINE LOFTS APARTMENTS

NEW AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING OPTION OPENS ON THE EASTSIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS.

Indianapolis, IN — TWG (www.twgdev.com), a real estate development company specializing in commercial, market rate, affordable and senior housing developments, announced the grand opening of Line Lofts Apartments, a new affordable senior living development on the eastside of Indianapolis, on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Located at 1145 E Washington St., Line Lofts will create 63 new two-bedroom units of affordable senior housing in Indianapolis. One-fifth of the units are designed and reserved for seniors with visual impairments, as part of a partnership between TWG and local nonprofit Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS), who provides ongoing early intervention services to Indiana’s youngest children with blindness/low vision.

As part of the partnership, the $11 million property will include specific features that will aid visually impaired residents, including oversized elevator buttons, tactile markings and dedicated ride sharing pickup spots, as well as a park area and washing station for service animals. The complex sits conveniently next to the future Blue Line Rapid Transit corridor, allowing senior residents with visual impairments to easily travel throughout Downtown Indianapolis.

WE COULDN’T BE MORE THRILLED TO PARTNER WITH TWG FOR THIS SPECIAL PROJECT,” SAID MEREDITH HOWELL, REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF VIPS IN INDIANA. “NOT ONLY WILL WE BE ABLE TO SERVE MORE CHILDREN WITH BLINDNESS IN NEED OF OUR SERVICES, BUT WE’LL BE ABLE TO SERVE THEM BETTER THROUGH THE USE OF OUR NEW SIMON AND ESTELLE KNOBLE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER.

Line Lofts will also serve as the new home for the VIPS Simon and Estelle Knoble Family Resource Center. The over 6,000 square-foot center will allow VIPS to provide a safe and accessible space for Indiana’s youngest children who are blind or visually impaired and their families; offering services such as early intervention, orientation and mobility, preschool transition assistance, advocacy training, and parent events.

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT PROJECT FOR INDIANAPOLIS, AND WE ARE HONORED TO PROVIDE A SPACE FOR AGING MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY TO STAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS THEY HAVE LONG CALLED HOME, WHILE ADJUSTING TO A MORE COMFORTABLE LIFESTYLE,” SAID TWG VICE PRESIDENT OF TAX CREDIT DEVELOPMENT JOHN SULLIVAN.

News of the Line Lofts development follows the grand opening of TWG’s The Assembly, which opened its doors to the community in 2020 and resides right next to Line Lofts. Most recently, Indianapolis-based Ash + Elm Cider Co. opened a 3,000 square-foot cidery and restaurant at The Assembly.

TWG will host a public grand opening event for key supporters and advocates of Line Lofts on Thursday, Sept. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m., featuring speeches, a variety of food vendors, a live band, dunk tank and other activities. The event will recognize both developments as TWG makes strides to grow and develop its local Indianapolis community.

Line Lofts aligns with the Promise Zone’s Live IndyEast goals to create affordable housing that will benefit new and existing neighbors. This project was made possible with low income housing tax credits (LIHTC) from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA).
